Knitting on the Road, Home Edition

We are home! The 2 days in LaCrosse, WI were wonderful. The whole LaCrosse area is nothing but bluffs, the river (Mississippi...try to spell that without remembering elementary school), and wonderful communities. Our friends Jim and Jan (we met them in La Maze class 30 plus years ago)are long-time residents of the area. Jim is now a retired archeology prof at UW-L and Jan is the Exec. Dir of the Small Business Administration for the region. We all love to hike, travel and eat good food and wine. We did all of those things. Jan and I managed to squeeze in a yarn crawl of the area....2 yarn shops, with me chatting up the yarn business and Jan listening carefully to make sure their business needs were being met. It was a lovely afternoon and I must say, LaCrosse has good yarn shops with thoughtful and caring owners. We all had a great picnic lunch, hiking up to the top of one of the bluffs for our lunch, which did include a terrific Chardonnay. The view was magnificent. As we meandered our way home from LaCrosse, via I-94 (ask me why we chose that route...it has to do with the curvature of the earth...I'll say no more), I really got into my knittin', as my niece would say. The baby sweater is progressing along beautifully and the sock needs to be tried on before any more stitches are added. Being home reminded me of one thing: being a knitter on the road gives you LOADS more time to knit! Darn it.....today I've had to do laundry, tend to Oliver (the fuzzy guy that lives with us), check my email and pay bills. Now, where is the fun in that? Knitting on the road.......I highly recommend it.
