Our good friend, Barb Bryan, is a fabulous knitter. She has a knack for choosing beautiful, challenging projects and actually finishing them! Barb wanted to let us know that even though it took awhile to get this project on the needles, that once she did, she couldn't stop. And the end result, as I'm sure you will agree, was well worth the wait.
"This great capelet was two years and two yarn purchases in the making. The book Shawl Style and enough Cascade 220 wool to knit the capelet (the book’s cover photo) were my Christmas gifts from the hubby in 2008. (I pick out my gifts at Wild Purls, and he picks them up!) I knit 23+ pairs of felted slippers for Christmas gifts in 2009, however, so the Cascade 220 went to that use. Still, every time I saw my Shawl Style book in my knitting stuff or at Wild Purls, I knew I had to knit this capelet. Eventually, I made a second yarn purchase for the project (Cascade Superwash 220), and this time got the job done. It was meant to be, because I preferred the brighter colors I picked out the second time around.
My niece Mariah ,
a smart, sophisticated 20-something who works in Tacoma as a congresswoman’s aide, was the lucky recipient of the capelet.
She reports compliments every time she wears it!"
