I left in a bit of a hurry from the shop last night as I was rushing to the YWCA Salute To Women dinner downtown, only to realize that my sandals weren't appropriate for the cold that blew in yesterday. I changed shoes and made it to the dinner just as they'd started eating and sat with a lovely bunch of women (Melodee Hanes, who is off to DC as an Obama appointee in the Justice Department, Jan Osborne and JoLynn Sommers, who owned Aileen's and now have launched new careers at both our hospitals and, of course, our own Linda Heins, volunteer and knitter extraordinaire). What a great evening to see the community come together to celebrate women who go the extra mile for their community and for others and have done so their entire careers. Fabulous event and fabulous honorees. It doesn't get better than that. It was also really fun to know this event has been taking place for 25 years and the program listed all past honorees. I enjoyed seeing so many familiar names, friends and knitters. Joan McCracken and Barb Bryan stood out and I hope I'm not forgetting anyone.
Today, we all woke to snow, which is quickly becoming a four letter word around here. April 24 is a bit late for a snow storm. I hope most of you will be home knitting tonight. Think of me out on the soccer field, enjoying a make up game for my daughter. Thank goodness for all those hats, mittens and scarves that I didn't put away quite yet! Happy spring everyone and don't forget, as far as weather goes, good things come to those who wait.
