The 3/50 Project

The idea of the 3/50 project is quite unique and spreading around the country. Many of you support our shop so well that we wanted to pass along this idea. The concept is to encourage shoppers to pick three local businesses they would miss if they were closed during these lean times. Then the shoppers try to spend $50 a month among the three retailers to save "the brick and mortars our nation is built on."

We love the idea and hope you will too. The internet is a great tool and we all love it. Remember, however that those internet businesses do not support our local schools, fundraisers and community projects. Small businesses make Billings a wonderful place to live and we know you recognize the importance of buying local. So, when making dinner plans, choose a local restaurant or when making purchases, remember your local shops. We can only survive with your support and we thank each and every one of you who make the decision to buy your yarn and supplies from Wild Purls.

I love this idea! Of course I already shop at Wild Purls! One of my other favorite place's is Raffia on Grand. It never matters the price range, there is always something cool. My 3rd is Billings Hardware - It reminds me of my Dad's store in Sidney and I'd rather support them than the big box hardware stores. I do try to shop local whenever I can, but even I fall into the trap of Costco!

What I love about this program is it makes me think that our wonderful local businesses need each and every one of us to survive. When we have visitors in Wild Purls, they always ask for local patterns and yarns. All businesses have something unique that just isn't available through the boxes or internet. Most importantly, remember that your purchases speak for you. When you spend your dollars locally, $68 returns to the community, national chains such as Costco $43 returns to the community and the internet = $0. Read about this by clicking on the link. And most importantly, THANK YOU ALL WHO SUPPORT US. We can't do it without you.
